During your initial appointment, you will have the opportunity to share what you are hoping to achieve while at Shift. Our expert Physical Therapist will perform a full evaluation and together you will come up with a customized treatment plan. Physical Therapy appointments are always one-on-one with a licensed Physical Therapist for 45 minutes in length. We never use physical therapy aides and we won’t keep you waiting. It’s what you want and what you deserve.

Causes of Fibromyalgia

Doctors do not know exactly what causes Fibromyalgia, however, these factors may be an involved:

  • physical trauma
  • surgery
  • infection
  • significant psychological stress
  • PTSD

Why does it hurt?

Researchers believe repeated nerve stimulation can cause the brain to change in those with Fibromyalgia. This change involves an abnormal increase in levels of brain chemicals that signal pain (neurotransmitters). The brain’s pain receptors can develop a memory of the pain and as a result, become more sensitive and overreact to pain signals.
