There are many ways to perform a great massage—it can be nurturing and energetic; deep and myofascial; it can involve stretching as in Thai massage or Shiatsu. But the most important factor is the sensitivity and intention of the therapist.
Whenever I’m asked by a massage therapist “what kind of pressure do you prefer” I always say I want the right amount of pressure. Sometimes it’s light, sometimes it’s medium and others it’s deeper and then a little deeper than that. But I feel a skilled and sensitive therapist with a healing intention will feel what my body is communicating to them and they will “know” how much pressure to apply.

The massage will focus specifically on the areas that are over-worked due to the repetition and intensity of the training to eliminate knots and trigger points. And it’s much more pleasant than using a foam roller.

An Eastern modality that employs pressure along meridians throughout the body. Therapists use their fingers, thumbs, and hands, and incorporate gentle stretching techniques. Shiatsu is ideal for relaxation, energetic flow, and centering. Clients receiving Shiatsu remain clothed; yoga or workout wear is best.

What to Expect
Upon arriving for your first visit, there will be a brief intake form for you to fill out. After that is completed you will go into a private room where your treatment will take place. Before your session begins there will be a discussion about what your chief complaint is and more importantly what you hope to get out of the session. Based on what we discuss, we will then go over with you different modalities that you can benefit from and outline a treatment plan that will best suit your needs.
